v2 has many changes and improvements, so if you are updating from v1 to v2, the process has a few extra steps.
- Get your config information from your old v1 install. Save that somewhere.
- Delete all the v1 files from the server, including the config file.
- Upload all the v2 files.
- Rename config.example.php and move over the configuration from the old version, including database configuration, system configuration, and email configuration.
- Edit the v1-to-v2-db-migration.php file with your database information.
- Go to your browser and go to the v1-to-v2-db-migration.php in your browser. This should make the neccessary database modifications.
- If it completes successfully, you should delete the v1-to-v2-db-migration.php file.
- You are all set. For future updates, you do not need to follow this process, and simply upload the new files.
- If you are having problems with the site displaying correctly, refresh your browser cache. If you are using something like Cloudflare, you should purge the cache there as well.
